PHL* 202 - Africana Philosophy CALT 3 credits Africana Philosophy, also called African Diasporic Philosophy, is a modern critical approach to Western philosophy through African-American, African, and Afro-Caribbean philosophy. The course explores the question of what it is to be human in the context of denied humanity, the nature of freedom informed by the reality of enslavement and colonization, the legitimacy of reason when logical structures have served to rationalize skewed and unjust representations of reality. Lecture Hours: 3 Prerequisite(s): ENG* 101 and any course in ANT*, ECN*, HIS*, PHL*, PSY*, SOC* or instructor approval.
