The Computer Servicing Certificate Program is designed for students seeking entry level technical skills for the information technology (IT) industry. The Program consists of three courses. Each course focuses on specific skills in computer applications, computer system hardware and PC operating systems. Successful mastery of the material should prepare the student for CompTIA’s A+ Certification exams ( www.comptia.org ). A+ Certification is an internationally recognized standard in the IT field. Students who desire to continue their education can use the Computer Servicing Certificate Program as a stepping stone to more advanced studies in the Computer Engineering Technology Program at Gateway Community College. Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates should be able to:
- Use computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and internet access to effectively communicate and research topics
- Demonstrate safety in the workplace
- Install, configure and upgrade computer hardware and software
- Use diagnostic software and test equipment to troubleshoot problems
- Develop a commitment to customer service
- Recognize the need for continuous learning
