DTS* 202 - Visual Analytics 3 credits Focuses on the best practices to design and generate graphical representation of data. Various techniques, along with different software tools will be investigated to create visualizations based on large collections of data that is available through public repositories. Best practices and various techniques will be applied in each main step of the visualization process that includes: data preparation (e.g., cleaning, consolidation), creation of the visualization, evaluation and presentation. Attention will be given in defining the goals of a visualization, in providing insight abut the collection of data, and in communicating effectively the findings. Lecture Hours: 3 Prerequisite(s): MAT* 167 with a grade of C or higher.
