EET* 241 - Introduction to Fiber Optics 4 credits Presents the principles of fiber optics, including light sources, single-mode, multi-mode, graded index fiber and cabling, connectors, photo-detectors, repeaters, and optical fiber sensors. Students will study various voice, data, and image communications systems using fiber optic networks. In the lab, students will perform experiments to gain hands-on experience with fiber optic components, circuits, and systems. Students will also have the opportunity to construct, test, and evaluate fiber optic communication links for analog and digital signal transmission. Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Prerequisite(s): EET* 136 and EET* 252 .
