HIM* 202 - Quality Assessment and Improvement


3 credits
Describes the quality assurance process for health care staff. Topics include external regulatory agencies, utilization reviews, medical care evaluations, and professional standards review organizations. Emphasizes the medical record, its content, importance, uses, forms, and the procedure of assembly and analysis. Also discusses, in depth, the guidelines from the joint commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations, the federal government’s Conditions of Participation, and the American Osteopathic Association. Examines the different medical record formats and explains the types used commonly in various health care organizations.
